In 2004, Eric and his brother Charlie began spending one evening a week working on woodworking projects. This has taken on a life of its own, and we now spend much more time in our "Little Shop of Horrors" in Eric's basement. Daniel has also gotten interested. Below are some of our projects.

Frame and Wedding PortraitWalnut and MarbleGiven to Margaret Wood Dyck, on the occasion of their 30th Wedding Anniversary, July 5, 2005, by her husband, Eric Dyck. The wood in the frame came from a lightening struck walnut tree growing at the Wood Family Farm, Chase County, Kansas. William and Jane Shaft, Margaret Wood Dyck’s great-great grandparents, originally homesteaded the farm in 1857 as The Gold Standard Fruit and Stock Farm. The marble in the frame came from a marble-top table which had long been in the Wood Family. The wedding photograph was taken in front of the Wood Family home, where the wedding was held. The original photograph was digitally restored, 30 years later, by the groom. |
Eric's Clock and Table TopWalnutThe wood used to make this clock and table top came from a lightening struck walnut tree growing at the Wood Family Farm, Chase County, Kansas. The farm was originally homesteaded in 1857 as The Gold Standard Fruit and Stock Farm by William and Jane Shaft, Margaret Wood Dyck’s great-great grandparents. The table top replaced the broken top of Margie's grandmother's marble-top table. The marble was used for another project. |
