2003 Christmas Letter

Happy Valentine’s Day

Obviously we missed the Christmas season this year.  We had a full year with more changes than we could fit into one year.

Daniel is at Emporia State again this year, but with at least one roommate of his choosing this fall.  With a couple other fairly good roommates, this year has proven much more enjoyable in the dorm department.  He continues to enjoy the chemistry, and he is leaning toward biochemistry with a laboratory application.  This spring he is a TA for beginning chemistry.

Alan graduated in December with a bachelor’s and masters in Architectural Engineering.  We drove out to Las Vegas to help him move in on December 30 to begin his new job January 5.  He’s working with an architectural engineering consulting firm there, and he’s very excited about the wonderful opportunity at the firm and about exploring a whole new area. We believe we’ll start a new tradition with New Year’s in Las Vegas.  www.mendenhallsmith.com .  Alan’s new address, etc:

email is adyck@cox.net,  cell phone # is (702) 860-9997, address is 4370 South Grand Canyon Drive, Apt #1076, Las Vegas, NV 89147

Margie decided her life wasn’t full enough, so she accepted a promotion at KU MED to work full time as a day shift manager for Respiratory Therapy.  The hardest part was getting used to the 12-hour shifts, but her schedule is finally set in stone.  It has proven to be an exciting challenge to help keep her on her toes.  In August she traveled with Alan, Daniel, her sister Jeanne, niece Lara and Mom Peggy to Seattle and then to Vancouver, British Columbia for a seven day cruise of the Alaskan inside passage.  The trip was successful as Peggy was well enough to travel, and the weather cooperated with six sunny days.

Eric is still practicing in Louisburg.  He was able to move back into his old/new office in October.  It is missing some furniture, but he did get to pick out new furniture.  He has a new partner, Mark Sutherland, who started in August.  Eric has been busy with his stamps, picking up Guatemalan stamps as a specialty.  He leaves for a nine-day mission trip to Mexico this weekend, and Margie predicts that he will soon add Mexican stamps to his repertoire.
